Case study · D16, District 16 · North Oxfordshire A club, in the store

District 16 is a private motorcycle club in North Oxfordshire. We designed the brand, built the website, the shop and the members area, wrote the iOS and Android apps and set up the backend they all run on. The Android app went live on Google Play on 29 October 2026 and the iOS version is with Apple.

01 · The brief

A club is not a mailing list

A riding club runs on things a Facebook group handles badly. Who is coming on Sunday. Where the route goes and where it stops. Who is a member and who is a prospect. Where the hoodies are. Who can talk to whom while the bikes are moving.

D16 is a private club in North Oxfordshire, founded in 2026. The brief was a members platform that does all of it and still feels like the club: invite only, nothing public that should not be, and fast enough to use with gloves on.

02 · The brand

Obsidian: black, chrome and a brush mark

Three directions were designed and the club picked the one we called Obsidian: near black ground, glass and hairline edges, chrome light on the type. Bebas Neue for display and Inter Tight for everything you have to read on a phone in daylight.

The brush logo is supplied artwork, used as the file and never redrawn in a font, which is the rule that keeps a mark like that from drifting over a year of posts and stickers. The palette is three values and no more: white, grey and black.

03 · The build

One backend, three front doors

The website, the shop and the members area are one Next.js application on Vercel. The phone app is React Native through Expo, so iOS and Android come out of the same codebase. Both talk to the same Supabase backend: Postgres for the data, authentication for the members, and edge functions for the jobs that must not run in a browser.

Every table has row level security, so a prospect cannot read a member’s details and a member cannot read the admin’s. Sign up is closed: an admin invites you, which is how a private club is supposed to work and is harder to build than a public sign up form.

The Android app went live on Google Play on 29 October 2026. The iOS build is with Apple now. Both were prepared here: the listings, the screenshots, the privacy declarations, the signing keys and the submissions.

Store work is the part of app development that gets underestimated. The build being finished is not the same as the app being downloadable, and the gap between the two is measured in rejections.

The work, in the open

a club, not a campaign

Why there are no lead figures on this page

D16 is a private members club, not a business buying advertising. There is no cost per lead to report and it would be meaningless if there were. What this page is evidence of is the build: a brand, a website, a shop, a members area, two phone apps and the backend behind them, from one team, with one of the apps live in a store you can go and look at.

Our own work

Go and look at it

The Android app is on Google Play and the club site is at district16.club. The iOS version is with Apple.

If you want the same thing built for your club, your members or your customers, the app development page explains how a build runs and what it costs.

Questions

Questions

What does it cost to build a members app like this?
Our app builds start at £7,500 for a designed and built app on iOS and Android with the backend behind it. A members platform with a shop, roles and a website sits above that, and we scope it before you commit.
How long did the D16 build take?
The brand directions, the website, the shop, the members area, both apps and the backend were built over a few weeks in October 2026, with the Android app live on Google Play on 29 October.
Can a club app have private areas for different kinds of member?
Yes, and it should be enforced in the database rather than hidden in the interface. D16 has four roles and the rules sit on every table, so a prospect cannot read a member’s details even if they go looking.
